Our "mission" is to offer fun and accessible high quality exercise for everybody. Full details about membership, classes etc. are on this website. If you would like more information please contact us.

F&S offers a range of classes - classic Basic and Medium classes as well as Dance, Yoga, Core, Barbell, Family and Junior; and also some outdoor classes like Cross-training (jogging with strength exercises) and Nordic Walking. Details of the time and location of all the classes appear in the schedule so remember to check it regularly.


ING Solidarity Awards - we need your vote!

Join us for a lovely spring hike in Manternach on Sunday, 20 May!

Manternacher Fiels became a nature reserve in 2000. The similarly named 6km circuit goes along the River Syre, through forests, orchards and old "forgotten" terraced vineyards, passing old mills and an aqueduct. This is the flowering time for wild orchids, such as "Orchis purpurea" and "Orchis mascula". The path includes the "honnert Traapen" – up 100 stairs – culminating with a view of the "Manternacher Fiels".

Your friends are welcome to join us on this walk. It will take approximately 2 hours (Maria did it last year and took some photos). Please wear good walking boots and bring a snack and a drink.

Meeting point: Train station in Manternach at 10:30 on Sunday 20 May. (09:48 train from Luxembourg to Manternach, direction Wasserbillig). There are hourly return trains to Luxembourg. Please note that there are works on this line and the train may not call at all the intermediate stations. If you would like any further information, please contact Maria.


Come and try out Cirkelfys on Wednesday, 23 May - functional, athletic training at stations!

Come and try out a fun, functional and challenging training form where the essence is physical training.

In Cirkelfys, the emphasis is on strength endurance but pulse quickening is also achieved whilst moving between different stations. Functional exercises with challenging techniques - the effect is reinforced by using barbells, steps and weights. You train for strength, balance, agility, coordination and fitness in a tough, athletic and (of course!) fun way!

Teens aged 13+ years are welcome to this cool session!

The class takes place on Wednesday, 23 May at 19:00in the Bâtiment Bleu. No need to sign up in advance, but please be there 10 minutes before the session starts.


Join in our STAR class in June!!

Star is an invigorating outdoor class, combining both basic and medium jogging with easy strength exercises and stretching. Novice or advanced outdoor enthusiast - this is the class for you! It suits EVERYONE.

We start with a warm-up (gentle jogging or walking), followed by flexibility. Then we jog for about 5 minutes to the first station and stop to do some strength exercises, focusing mainly on the upper body. We continue jogging for a few minutes to the next stop and set about doing a different set of strength exercises. There are 3 stops altogether. The class ends with 10 minutes of jogging and stretching. Come and join in the fun in the fresh air!

Where: in Kirchberg, meeting point is at LuxExpo P+R
When: Wednesdays 6, 13, 20 and 27 June at 18:15
Duration: 60-75 minutes

Get moving this summer for free – "workout" and dance with Friskis&Svettis in the Parc de Merl for children, teens and adults!

Come and workout with Friskis&Svettis this summer in the Parc de Merl, in the fresh air and to nice music. In collaboration with Ville de Luxembourg, Friskis&Svettis offers a wide range of free classes in the Parc de Merl: Basic, Medium / Medium Strength, Medium Pulse. If you like dancing, you should check out Dance, Afro or Fuego, to hot hot rhythms and easy moves. Just let go and follow!

Younger children (age 2-7) are welcome to come and workout together with their parents at the Family class, with fun music and playful moves. The idea is for parents and children to have fun, enjoy the music and exercise together. The Junior class is for children aged 7-12; an action-filled and varied class, making the children jump, run, exercise and have fun to good music.

Everyone is welcome at Friskis&Svettis' classes in the Parc de Merl over the summer, all you need is a pair of good sport shoes and a smile! The classes suit everyone.. men, women, old, young.. just come and try it!!

Pour un été en forme - séances gratuits de "workout" et de danse avec Friskis&Svettis cet été au Parc de Merl – pour les petits, les ados et les grands!!

Rester en forme avec Friskis&Svettis cet été au Parc de Merl, en plein air! Friskis&Svettis, en collaboration avec la Ville de Luxembourg, offre un choix de séances gratuits de «workout» et de danse dans le Parc de Merl. Au programme pour les adultes et les ados : Basic, Medium, Medium Pulse, Medium Strength. Si vous aimez la danse, essayez l'Afro ou le Fuego aux rythmes très, très chauds!

Nous accueillons les enfants 2-7 ans, accompagnés de leurs parents, pendant les séances Family. Les petits et les grands bougent, tous ensemble avec la musique. Les séances Family offrent aux enfants et leurs parents un moment de détente ludique où l’on pratique du sport ensemble, au rythme de la musique. Les séances Junior s'adressent aux jeunes 7-12 ans; musique cool et mouvements faciles assurés!

Tout le monde est le bienvenu aux séances dans le Parc de Merl; il ne faut que des chaussures de sport et un sourire éclatant! Les séances conviennent à tout le monde : les hommes, les femmes, les jeunes, les seniors.. Venez nombreux!

Core

CoreCore is a functional training focused on body stability, strength, balance and agility.

No apparatuses are used and the exercises are done on the floor or standing up, with the body used as a weight.

The class is aimed at those who have begun to train and wish to supplement it with more specific exercises for the back, stomach, body strength and stability. Therefore, Core combines well with barbell, jogging and the like.

You should wear good sports shoes and bring your own mat to this class.

Core is on Tuesdays at 19:00 in the Ecole Française.


Barbell Interval - for members aged 15+

A smileBarbell Interval (previously called Barbell Pulse), is a combination of efficient strength training and tough cardio. If you like sporty and straightforward exercise, then Barbell Interval is for you. The exercises are simple and efficient. You follow clear instructions to cool music, using a barbell, weights and a step to work out. You adapt the weights yourself and can use anything from just the weight of the bar or add a number of extra kilos. The Barbell class will give you strength and endurance and is great for your legs, hips, back, abdomen, chest, shoulders and arms. At the end of the class, 15 minutes of cardio training is added in interval form. The fitness exercises are simple but you can make them quite strenuous. But don't worry, it's 75 minutes of sweat, fun and good music!

The Barbell Interval classes are open to all members aged 15 and over. The places in this class are limited so if you want to be sure of a place, please book your spot by sending Åsa an email by 4pm on the day. Please be there 10 minutes before the class starts; if not, your spot may be given to someone from the waiting list.

Barbell Interval takes place on Tuesdays at 19:30 in the Bâtiment Bleu.


Junior - for children aged 7–12 years

Junior Junior is an action-filled and varied class for children aged 7-12 years.

The aim of the session is to make children jump, run, exercise and have fun to good music. The children concentrate on basic physical skills (such as strength, balance, posture, bending, stretching, turning) and also the cardiovascular system. All this is achieved through fun exercises! The structure of the session follows young people's way of switching between going at full speed and resting.

Children should wear good training shoes and bring enough water to drink during the session.

The Junior class is on Mondays at 18:00 in the Ecole Française.


Yoga 2

Yoga Yoga 2 is a more challenging and dynamic progression of Yoga 1 (and Yoga Lunch). The Yoga 2 exercises have a continuous flow and there is more time to “deepen into” the asanas (positions) from Yoga 1. Yoga 2 builds upon classical yoga and focuses on breathing, movements, relaxation and getting in harmony with your body, while training your flexibility, strength and balance. Please wear loose fitting long-sleeved shirts and trousers for this class. During the class you are barefoot, but you may prefer to wear some socks and an extra sweater for the relaxation exercises. You should also bring your own mat to the 75 minute class.

Yoga 2 takes place on Mondays at 20:00 in Mühlenbach.


Dance Fuego

Do you like Latin rhythms? Then come and try Dance Fuego! As the name suggests, Dance Fuego is a hot hot hot session, with lots of passion, attitude and character!

Inspired by Latin music, Latin rhythms and dance forms, Dance Fuego is playful, free and requires no precision. Just copy, let yourself go and enjoy! The styles can be salsa, merengue, mambo, rumba, flamenco, cumbia, samba, reggaeton, etc. Fit or not, everyone can join in and make the class their own. Just like on the dance floor.

For this hour long class, the only thing you need is a pair of good shoes and a smile! No need to bring a partner = no need to worry about stepping on anyone's toes. Just come as you are and have fun!

Dance Fuego is on Sundays at 11:30 in the Ecole Française.


Friskis&Svettis are recruiting hosts..

Hosts play a very important role at Friskis&Svettis. They welcome people attending the classes, answer questions about F&S, help the instructors by switching the music on and off and generally ensure that everything runs smoothly during the class.

F&S are now looking for more people who are prepared to volunteer a little bit of their time. Potential hosts will shadow others hosts before looking after a class on their own. There are also opportunities to receive some training and to take part in social and team-building events.

A big bonus is that hosts get entry to all the classes they like for free!!

If you are interested, please contact Patricia, the Host Team Leader, with some brief details, e.g. are you already a F&S member and when you would be available to host (lunchtime, evening, weekend).
