To wrap up and say So long to the Summer night city, the instructors will - once again - offer a glittery Medium session, featuring the music of one of the most legendary groups of our time - Abba. This time in Parc de Merl. Ring, ring and bring your friends, Fernando and Chiquitita. The Dancing queens will know the Name of the game and break a sweat to Mamma Mia, Super trouper, Gimme gimme, SOS, Money money money. However, this entertaining session doesn't cost anything. Just bring a pair of outdoor training shoes and Lay all your love on Friskis at 6.30 p.m. on Thursday 9 September. The session does not go On and on and on. It last one hour. Meeting point: Parc de Merl, on the lawn opposite of the entrance to the cafe.
As most schools are still on holidays Friskis&Svettis Luxembourg works according to a summer schedule with free sessions in Parc de Merl on Thursdays at 6.30 p.m. and sessions for members on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. in Kiem. 21 sessions a week - Preliminary autumn schedule The preliminary autumn schedule is now on-line. It is only a tentative schedule, as the schools in Luxembourg need to re-confirm F&S' bookings. However, we hope it will make it easier for you to plan your evening activities, but please keep in mind that it may change. As soon as F&S Luxembourg recieves the confirmations the sessions will start. Please make sure that you have signed up in e-Friskis so that you receive our information automatically.
In the autumn Friskis&Svettis will offer 20 sessions a week for adults. If you like drums and a lot of rythm the Afro session could be something for you. With inspiration from African dance Friskis&Svettis has created a captivating and exciting workout session with a lot of rhythm. It is a barefoot session with choreography that is simple and easy to follow. You only have to mimic and let the drum beats and moves become “one”. A holistic experience, which is expressive, fun and sweaty, but it can be meditative at the same time. Afro: Tuesdays at 7.30 p.m. in the new sports hall of the European school (BB2) - just across from Bâtiment Bleu.
New for the autumn term is a Start session with Maria on Tuesday mornings at 9.30 at the premises of "The Gym" in Bourmicht, Bertrange. The Start session is gentle workout for those who would like to start exercising. Movements are simple, both to understand and to carry out, and the session does not include any jumps or heavy movements. The music is engaging and easy to follow and there is lots of time to take out the movements, even if you are inexperienced. A Start session will also be offered on Fridays at 12.15 in Kiem.
We really enjoy growing and getting older. One of our gifts to you is free sessions for adults in Parc de Merl. Every Thursday at 6.30 p.m. until 9 September adults (everyone aged 12 or more) can work out with Friskis&Svettis for free in Parc de Merl. Check out the schedule to see which intensity is on offer. Meeting point: Parc de Merl, on the lawn opposite of the entrance to the cafe. See some photos here. What about the weather? It is hard to say beforehand if the park sessions will be cancelled or not due to bad weather. We decide on the spot. If the rain is pouring down the sessions are cancelled, but so far only one session has been cancelled. However, it is a good idea to bring a mat for the back and stomach exercises or to sit on, as the grass sometimes is a bit wet.
Put on your running shoes and come to the new Medium Jogging session which takes place on Sundays. Next sessions will be on 12 and 19 September at 10 a.m. in Bambësch. Jogging is an absolute favourite for many, as a form of exercise or as a complement to other types of training. In a group, the advantage is that you get inspired by the other runners and you can enjoy having an engaged instructor. The Medium Jogging session targets those who have some running experience and manage to run at the speed of 5.30 to 6.30 minutes per kilometre for around 45 minutes. The session takes place in Bambësch, so the terrain is varied and there will be hills.
The Barbell sessions are open to all members over 15 years of age. The places in this session are limited so if you want to be sure to get a place, please book your spot by sending Åsa an e-mail. In case you can not come, please make sure to send a cancellation e-mail before 3 p.m. the day of the course. This way, people on the waiting list can join. Please note that you can not book several courses in a row and that the booking for next week opens immediately after the end of the current weeks session. You can sign up until 5 p.m. the day of the course. If you do not show up before 7.50 the day of the class, your spot will be given to those who are on the waiting list.
